Freelance Designer, Copywriter & Webmaster

To me, websites are like puzzles. From designing the layout and creating copy to programming the site, making all the pieces fit together is a challenge. But the rush you get after putting that final piece into place is worth all hard work.

Here are a few of my favorite websites (next to this site, that is).

Portfolio

Jason Paradis - Online Portfolio | When a close friend—an artist, designer, and custom carpenter—was exploring new employment and education opportunities, I convinced him that an online portfolio was the way to go. He expressed a desire to keep the site simple, using as little text as possible to let the work speak for itself. Many iterations later, I've landed on a design that remains true to this philosophy, using a dynamic SquareSpace model to host and maintain his portofolio site.

Beltway Butlers - Company Website | Two friends starting a business asked if I could help out by designing the website. They provided their logo and a basic idea of what they wanted each area to say. With that, I designed the site, wrote all of the copy, came up with the idea for the "Family & Friends Profile", and set-up a PayPal payment option and instructions. I also provided website administration and search engine submission assistance.

MM&T, INCorporated - Company Website | With what is, at best, described as "primitive" development tools, I designed, wrote, and programmed this site using Notepad, MS Paint, MS PhotoEditor, MS PowerPoint, ArcSoft PhotoStudio, and SnagIt (a cheap screen capture tool). In configuring everything from web hosting, domain name registration, and e-mail forwarding services, this project also served as my introduction to basic website administration and FTP protocol. Over the years, I made improvements to the site as I picked up new skills along the way, including JavaScript functionality and password protection capabilities. MMTOnline.com has grown to be an invaluable resource for finding new clients, as well as distributing information to existing ones.
